Your PTO Dollars at Work this Fall

Thank you, POMS parents, for your generous support of our PTO and a record-setting membership drive. A big Charger Shout-out goes to Nguyet Vo, our Membership Chair.

Membership donations and support of PTO fundraising make a direct impact to support our school and our students. Donations to and funds raised for POMS PTO touch every aspect of student life at Pin Oak Middle School – from the artistic to athletic, academic to social. Here are some of the ways your PTO dollars have been hard at work this school year:

* Go-Math work-texts for all students
* Subscription to Mathalicious and math books
* Virtual Math manipulatives
* K-Nex, Bridge, Force and Motion Sets for science and engineering courses
* Houston Forensic Science Center
* Pull-down world map for U.S. History
* Books for ELA classrooms, book clubs and literary circles
* “Be Cool” Curriculum for life skills classrooms
* Band instruments: french horn, clarinets and trombones
* Contemporary costumes for dance
* Curtain for the Caja Negra
* Draw tablet and underwater camera for photography
* New PA system for the gym

* Couch, chairs and tables for library reading area

Directory Distribution

Directories were distributed to students of Bronze level ($50) to Diamond level ($1000) PTO members this past week. Be sure to check backpacks and lockers! If you are missing your copy please contact Nguyet Vo, Membership Chair. Copies are also available for sale at the school store for $5.

Chipotle Spirit Night

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Pin Oak Parent Teacher Organization.. Come in to the Chipotle at 5600 Kirby Dr in Houston on Wednesday, November 4th between 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Pin Oak Parent Teacher Organization.

Bellaire Fun Run/Walk

Registration is open now to sign up for the Bellaire High School Fun Run/Walk.

POMS receives $ for each student/family member signed up through the link who selects POMS as the school affiliation. Further, we also receive PTO funds for all POMS volunteers. It is a great event; run/walk with the kids’ 1K (kids 11 and under have the choice to do 1K or 5K) or the 5K fun run/walk, or just sign up your student to represent POMS! Make sure to wear any POMS shirt.

If interested in volunteering, please choose the Volunteer tab and select POMS (last option) as your participant affiliation. Select the Kids’ Race as your volunteer option.

ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 5:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18th
Email Jb27@att.net or sally.lechin@gmail.com if you are planning to volunteer. POMS is in charge of coordinating the kids’ race; it’s a ton of fun and cute to watch.

Traffic Plan

Drop_off_Locations

Coming from 610?
Turn right into the circular drive from Glenmont.
Follow the lines of traffic until it stops, with the first car stopping at the far end of the circle, marked with stars on the diagram above. 2-3 cars should proceed beyond the crosswalk.
Do not stop your car on the crosswalk.
Place your car in PARK and allow your child(ren) exit the vehicle on the curb side. It is dangerous to exit from the driver side of the vehicle.
Wait patiently for cars ahead of you to unload. Do not attempt to pass vehicles in the drop-off lane.
When exiting the school driveway you may turn left or right.

Approaching the school on Glenmont from the East?
Make a right turn into the first driveway of the HCC parking lot.
Follow the cones around and stop adjacent to the crosswalk. 3-4 vehicles should be able to unload at one time, in the area designated on the diagram above with a single red star.
Place your car in PARK and allow your child(ren) to exit the vehicle on the passenger side of the car. It is dangerous to exit from the driver side of the vehicle.
Wait patiently for cars ahead of you to unload. Do not attempt to pass vehicles in the drop-off lane.
When exiting the HCC parking lot you may turn left or right.
Please refrain from u-turning on Glenmont.
Avenue B is not a sanctioned drop-off location.
The HCC Parking Lot is not available for parking. Your car will be towed.
